Laying Down My Edges

Updated: Dec 7, 2020

May 12, 2018 I put my pre-poo on for 3 hours with rosemary oil, olive oil and castor oil. Then, rinsed my hair in cool water to lock in the moisture, as I found out in my research, was the most effective for low porosity hair.

Also, I tried Crème of Nature Argan Oil Style Foaming Mousse with 2 finger fulls of Design Essentials Curl Forming Custard to lay down my edges. Below you will see the regimen I used at this time.

I didn’t see any real differences after using Crème of Nature Argan Oil Style Foaming Mousse with 2 finger fulls of Design Essentials Curl Forming Custard that I used to hold down my edges. May 15, 2018 - June 6, 2018, I tried the Curl Forming Custard instead of the Crème of Nature Hair Butter to hold down my edges but noticed no difference in results. I will go back to the butter for this for now. However, both are very moisturizing, last 2-3 days before reapplying, and make my hair soft and easy to comb through. I will continue to use these to moisturize my hair for now. Then, I tried the Shea Moisture Curl Stretch Pudding and Design Essentials Sleek Hot Style Glaze together to lay down my edges. Then wrapped it up for the night. The results would be seen the next day when I went to an event. Since I sweat in my head, it didn’t hold long. I need an answer for reversion (probably none since I sweat in my head), and a product that will beat the humidity. Not trying to give up at this point, so I used the Shea Moisture Curl Stretch Pudding and the Design Essentials Curl Forming Custard together to lay down my edges. Also, used them to roll the top of my hair on perm rods. There may not be a solution for someone who sweats in their head, but I haven't given up yet. My hair ended up soft and laid down, but you can still see the puffiness (sweating in my head) of the hair. So I tried Creme of Nature Hair Butter and DE Curl Forming Custard to lay down my edges and wrapped them for the night. Well, my edges were laid down for a while, then they went puffy again.

I must remember my hair is in transition, still straight in some places, and curly in others. Also, still looking for an answer to my hair holding even in the summer heat. Creme of Nature Hair Butter and DE Curl Forming Custard didn’t mix well together. It gave me white clumps in my hair. I tried one more time using Creme of Nature Hair Butter and Shea Moisture Curl Stretch Pudding to lay down my edges and wrapped them for the night. This combination has worked the best because I like my hair soft, not hard and crunchy. My sides weren’t as puffy. Better results, but still not the result I was looking for.
